Who We Are
We are Sydney based designers and architects with a passion for fine, unique and elegantly simple furniture and spaces. As architects, we design fine furniture for our buildings that is precision crafted, elegant, multi-purpose and flatpack – to save on space when not in use.
The IMBY Furniture range is the result of years of research and development by Adriano Pupilli Architects, designing innovative furniture to fill the void for robust, raw and versatile flatpack furniture. Exploration of CNC fabrication has also led to the development of the IMBY Kit, a modular building kit that can be customised and assembled by the occupant quickly and affordably.
Simplicity + Flexibility
IMBY Furniture encapsulates the simplicity and elegance of ancient woodworking techniques with the efficiency and sustainability of digital fabrication and renewable resources, to provide customers with a beautiful and robust furniture solution. Instead of glue/screws/nails, timber wedges are used in conjunction with tusk and tenon joints to hold the piece together. The wedges can be easily knocked out for tool-less disassembly and efficient flatpack storage.
As well as being more sustainable, this results in a unique and captivating aesthetic. More than a style, it is the raw expression of the materials and components, and how they go together. All of our products are supplied in raw Birch plywood, flat-packed and ready for assembly with our easy to follow fully-illustrated instructions.
Best of all, no Allen key is required!
All products are made from 100% renewable materials. Being made entirely from Birch plywood all our pieces look beautiful and are primarily composed of plantation timber. Each item maximises the use of standard plywood sheets by carefully arranging (nesting) the parts with minimal waste.
The CNC milling fabrication process is accurate and fast, meaning that cost savings can be passed on to our customers. We use all local suppliers and fabricators based here on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, supporting local enterprise and reducing the carbon footprint of our operations.
